We’d all love to jet off to the sun in January to escape the bleak midwinter but we’ll settle for snuggling under a warm and cosy throw that just happens to look ever so gorgeous. Just add candles, hot chocolate and a good box set!

At Christmas we buy the tree, decorate the tree, pour a glass of wine and admire our handiwork. There's something so lovely about the greenery.Top tip for your festive home.....forage for some greenery and add it to a tray of candles, pop some fir branches into pots and votives on the mantelpiece. Add eucalyptus stems to your table centrepiece and see how it comes to life. Mini pots of cyclamen and baby firs add depth to your twinkly lights and displays of cards. A bucket of Holly at the door and don't forget the mistletoe!

As it is such a busy time of year we like to keep each task as fuss-free as possible. This decoration requires minimum effort but delivers plenty of impact. You might even have the components at home already. You'll need: 3 glass bottles (they don't have to match) 3 candles Some twine or raffia Some greenery (any evergreen works, or you could try eucalyptus) A flat platter or tray Simply tie a stem of the green stuff to each your bottles with the twine, add a candle and arrange on the tray or platter.
